From Car Parts to Aperitivos: A Guide to Bologna During Autopromotec 2025

Every other year, Bologna transforms. What’s normally a city of ancient towers, winding arcades, and late-night pasta becomes the global heart of the automotive aftermarket industry—thanks to Autopromotec.

This international trade fair is not only a celebration of technical excellence and industrial innovation, but also a moment for professionals, manufacturers, and thinkers from all over the world to meet, collaborate, and shape the future of mobility. And this year, Soferina is in the middle of it all.

Soferina is proud to be part of the Ancomnet Group, a key player in the automotive parts industry. The group is currently working closely with some of the most innovative and prominent companies participating in the Autopromotec fair.

But Autopromotec is more than a fair. And Bologna? Far more than a backdrop.

Inside Autopromotec: Innovation with Purpose

Now in its 60th year, Autopromotec has become the most specialized international exhibition in the sector. Across many halls, the fair covers everything from:

  • Advanced workshop equipment
  • Retreaded and new tire technology
  • Air conditioning systems
  • Smart diagnostics tools
  • Lubricants, accessories, and spare parts

The companies we represent are spread throughout this landscape—presenting tools that shape modern car servicing, introducing cleaner and smarter A/C systems, and pushing forward with high-performance lighting and filter innovations. The conversations we have here help define where the industry is going, and what drivers (especially women) are increasingly expecting from their vehicles and garages alike.

And Then, Bologna Opens Its Doors

The moment the fair closes for the evening, a different rhythm takes over.

Bologna doesn’t just charm. It seduces—quietly, slowly, with golden terracotta hues, the clatter of espresso cups, and narrow medieval streets filled with energy. After a full day of business, here’s how we unwind:

What to See, Where to Be

Asinelli Tower

Sure, 498 steps may not sound appealing after a day at the fair—but the reward is unmatched. At the top of this leaning medieval tower, you’ll see all of Bologna: a sea of orange rooftops, distant Apennine hills, and the hum of a city that knows how to balance history with hustle.

Quadrilateral Market

You’ll smell it before you see it: the aroma of aged Parmigiano, the sharp sweetness of balsamic vinegar, freshly sliced prosciutto, and wheels of pecorino stacked like treasure. This maze of small food shops and wine bars is a local tradition, and one we proudly adopt while in town.

What We Order (Every Time)

Bologna is the birthplace of some of Italy’s most iconic dishes—but forget the supermarket “Bolognese.” Here, it’s all about:

  • Tagliatelle al Ragù – Fresh egg pasta with a slow-cooked meat sauce. Rich, simple, honest.
  • Tortellini in brodo – Tiny handmade parcels served in hot broth. Comfort in a bowl.
  • Crescentine – Fried dough served with salumi and cheese. Best enjoyed outdoors, with a glass of wine in hand.

Favourite Spots for a Break (Or a Business Aperitivo):

Whether you’re recapping a deal or simply recharging, here are our go-to Bologna hangouts:

  • Caffè Zanarini
Situated in the heart of Bologna at Piazza Galvani, Caffè Zanarini is a historic café and pastry shop that has long been a beloved meeting point for locals and visitors alike. Housed in the elegant Archiginnasio building, once the seat of the University of Bologna, the café offers a refined atmosphere.
  • Via Santo Stefano
We cannot really pick our favourite spot to eat or have a wonderful capuccino. We would definately suggest to walk around and take your pick!
  • Camera a Sud
A quiet corner full of character—great for a late-night aperitivo or a solo moment after a busy day.

What Bologna Means to Us

Bologna reminds us that work can lead us to beauty—and that business trips don’t need to feel like work. For the Soferina team, Autopromotec is a celebration of innovation, but it’s also a celebration of connection. With people. With places. With possibilities.
